Why We Built This Site
Illinois treats most jail and inmate information as public, but the hard part is rarely the law. It is knowing which office holds the person you are trying to find. The Morgan County Sheriff runs the local jail, which mostly holds people awaiting a case or serving a short sentence. The Illinois Department of Corrections runs a completely separate system for people who have been sentenced to prison. Federal and immigration detainees show up in still other systems. We pulled the rosters, locators, contact details, visitation notes, and records-request steps for all of these into one reference so a single search does not turn into a scavenger hunt.

It is worth being blunt about our limits. This is a privately run reference site. We have no tie to the Morgan County Sheriff's Office, the county jail, the Illinois Department of Corrections, or any other government agency. We hold no records ourselves.

- We cannot post bond, set up a visit, or send money for you.
- We cannot give legal advice.
- We cannot promise every phone number, fee, or address stays current.
Only the sheriff's office or the corrections department can confirm a current custody status, the charges, or a release. We can point you to the right roster, but the official answer always comes from them.
