About This Site

Finding someone in custody in Morgan County usually comes down to one question: which system is holding them? The county jail, the Illinois prison system, and the federal agencies each keep their own records and their own search tools. This site exists to gather those rosters, locators, and contacts into one place so you do not have to guess where to look first. We are a private reference, built to make a confusing search a little simpler.

Why We Built This Site

Illinois treats most jail and inmate information as public, but the hard part is rarely the law. It is knowing which office holds the person you are trying to find. The Morgan County Sheriff runs the local jail, which mostly holds people awaiting a case or serving a short sentence. The Illinois Department of Corrections runs a completely separate system for people who have been sentenced to prison. Federal and immigration detainees show up in still other systems. We pulled the rosters, locators, contact details, visitation notes, and records-request steps for all of these into one reference so a single search does not turn into a scavenger hunt.

What You Will Find Here

The pages here are organized around the questions people actually ask after an arrest or a sentencing.

  • Inmate lookup help across jail inmate records, jail roster mugshots, and court records after a jail arrest.
  • A page for each detention facility serving the county, with its address, phone, and visitation notes.
  • Plain steps for the local jail channels and for the statewide Illinois inmate locator.
  • How to ask for a booking record or photo, and what kind of response to expect.

What We Cannot Do

It is worth being blunt about our limits. This is a privately run reference site. We have no tie to the Morgan County Sheriff's Office, the county jail, the Illinois Department of Corrections, or any other government agency. We hold no records ourselves.

  • We cannot release, hold, or transfer anyone in custody.
  • We cannot post bond, set up a visit, or send money for you.
  • We cannot give legal advice.
  • We cannot promise every phone number, fee, or address stays current.

Only the sheriff's office or the corrections department can confirm a current custody status, the charges, or a release. We can point you to the right roster, but the official answer always comes from them.

Search Partners

Some pages include search boxes powered by third-party providers, and those providers set their own pricing. When one of those tools leads to a paid signup, we may earn a referral fee, which is what keeps this site free to use. We do not control how those tools price their service or what their results contain, and using them is always your choice.
